Whether you are a seasoned vegan cook or new to the plant-based lifestyle, having the right kitchen tools can make all the difference when it comes to preparing delicious and healthy meals. Check out some of my favorite tools that can really upgrade your cooking experience.
As more and more people turn to a vegan lifestyle, the kitchen tools used to prepare plant-based meals become increasingly important. Having the right tools can make all the difference when it comes to preparing delicious, healthy, and satisfying vegan meals. In this article, I'll discuss my favorite kitchen tools for the vegan kitchen, including a food processor, blender, tofu-press, instapot, seltzer maker, air fryer, and a good kitchen knife.
#1 Food Processor can handle the toughest ingredients
A food processor is a versatile kitchen tool that can be used for a variety of tasks in the vegan kitchen. From chopping vegetables to making nut butter and vegan cheese, a food processor is a must-have tool for any plant-based cook. With a powerful motor and various attachments, a food processor can handle even the toughest of ingredients, making meal prep a breeze. Making a vegan lentil loaf can be prepared in just a minute. Pop it in the oven, and you have a delicious hearty dinner.
#2 Blenders are great for juices, sauces, and plant milks
A blender is another essential tool in the vegan kitchen. Whether you're making smoothies, soups, or sauces, a blender can quickly blend ingredients together to create a creamy and smooth texture. In addition to traditional blenders are high-speed blenders which can break down the toughest ingredients, like nuts and seeds. My favorite thing to make with this tool are creamy vegan cheeses and plant-based milks. It makes it super simple and easy. One-two-three, you have go to cheese sauces and homemade plant milks that are at your fingertips at any point.
#3 Tofu Press makes prepping tofu so much easier
Tofu is a staple ingredient in many vegan dishes, and a tofu-press can help take your tofu game to the next level. A tofu-press is used to remove excess water from tofu, allowing it to absorb marinades and flavors more effectively. This results in a firmer texture and a more flavorful dish. Tofu-presses come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they all work to press the water out of tofu for better results in your vegan meals. Gone can be the days of stacking random kitchen items and using towels or paper towels to press your tofu. With a tofu press, it simplifies the process and offers easy cleanup. I highly recommend bamboo presses.
#4 Instapot is my go to when time isn't in my favor
An instapot, or electric pressure cooker, is a game-changer for the busy vegan cook. With an instapot, you can quickly and easily cook a variety of vegan meals, from soups and stews to rice and beans. The pressure cooking function of an instapot allows for faster cooking times, making meal prep a breeze. Also, instapots often come with a variety of settings, including sauté, steam, and slow-cook, making them a versatile tool in the vegan kitchen. I love making my Creamy Vegan Tomato Orzo and Broccoli Cheddar Soup with the Instapot. Cuts the cooking time enormously!
#5 Good Kitchen Knife is an absolute must
A good kitchen knife is essential in any kitchen, vegan or not. A sharp knife can make meal prep a breeze, allowing you to easily chop vegetables and fruits for your plant-based meals. A high-quality kitchen knife will last for years, making it a worthwhile investment for any home vegan cook.
#6 Air Fryer for healthy "fried" food
An airfryer is a popular tool in many kitchens, including vegan kitchens. With an air fryer, you can create crispy, fried-like foods without the added oil and calories. Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, resulting in a crispy texture without the need for deep frying. This makes them a great tool for creating healthier versions of classic vegan dishes, like french fries and vegan chicken nuggets.
#7 Seltzer Maker because it offers a fun treat
Okay, a seltzer maker is not essential, BUT can be a fun addition to any vegan kitchen. With a seltzer maker, you can easily make your own sparkling water at home, reducing your reliance on bottled water and reducing your carbon footprint. Many seltzer makers come with flavor cartridges, allowing you to create your own custom flavored sparkling water without added sugar or artificial sweeteners. I personally like to add my own flavoring like natural fruit concentrate/syrups, or squeezing fresh lemon, lime, or orange juice.
So that's it for now, friends! While there are so many other tools I like to use, these are just a few of my faves. Having the right tools in the vegan kitchen can make all the difference when it comes to preparing delicious and healthy plant-based meals. A food processor, blender, tofu-press, instapot, air fryer, and a good kitchen knife can really add a lot of benefits, from time saving, making meals healthier, and so much more.
